technology focus areas for 2020 - ?
Table of Contents
This year I'll make an active effort to minimize the amount of 'stuff' I deal
with.
In particular I'll be making an active effort to reduce the amount of technology
I expose myself to, therefore I'll try to:
- Linux distros:
- any new linux installations will be either openSUSE Leap / Tumbleweed
- use a simple DE that gets the job done well enough - XFCE seems to be it.
This distro should cover all my needs, if one is not very opinionated on the matters of systemD/PulseAudio/dbus. I've been a severe distro-hopper for years, and that has got to stop.
- Programming languages / tools:
- higher priority
- (Re?-)learn C++
- Learn ~~CMake~~ scons
- git
- Learn Godot
- Explore QT
- lower priority
- Learn Lua
- dabble in ocaml
- Read less articles about
why we moved from X to Y
to curb the desire to tryout new things, just for the sake of trying them.
- higher priority
The point of this exercise is to start moving away from the mile-wide inch-deep
model.
